Tarco is currently recruiting for the following position:

Intermediate Mechanical Designer

Responsibilities:

  • Proficient in generating, reading, and understanding mechanical discipline drawings including P&IDs, piping isometrics, general arrangements, and mechanical system drawings such as
    • Piping Layouts
    • Piping Sections and Details
    • Piping Isometrics
    • Piping system Isometrics
    • Pipe Support design & detailing
    • Mechanical packaging design & detail
    • Enclosure design and details
    • Interdisciplinary review of CEM drawings
    • Review of Vendor Drawings
    • Electrical Drawings, as required
    • Civil Drawings, as required
    • Structural Drawings, as required
  • Leverage experience and knowledge to identify technical issues, risks, and value adding opportunities and appropriately address these through development of engineered solutions and/or revisions to specifications, standards, and operating practice
  • Coordinate directly with engineers to understand project requirements and verify design details
  • Prepare preliminary mechanical design packages for skidded equipment and acoustical enclosures
  • Prepare detailed material take offs and bill of materials for fabrication packages
  • Assist in QA and the checking of work produced by less experienced drafting/design personnel
  • Assist in the development of design and drafting standards and processes
  • Assist in the creation of project plans and provide project estimates and status updates
  • Provide technical consultation and support to senior engineers, project managers, project team and field service team
  • Willing to travel occasionally to job sites

Qualifications/Requirements:

The following is required:

  • 5 to 8 + years’ experience
  • Technical Diploma or University degree in Mechanical or Process Engineering discipline from an accredited institution in Canada.
  • Solid Mechanical drafting knowledge
  • Proficient with AutoCAD
  • Experience with Solidworks considered an asset
  • Good knowledge of relevant codes and standards (e.g. ABSA Boiler and Pressure Vessel Codes, API, ASME, AWS, and CSA codes)
  • Experience in the consulting engineering sector
  • Excellent English, both written and verbal communication skills
  • Must possess a valid Canadian Driver’s License
  • Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis
  • Ability to travel and work internationally without restrictions

The following would be an asset for the position:

  • Previous experience in the natural gas processing industry within a related technical field.
  • Experience with Gas Turbines, Pumps and Compressors
  • Practical experience participating in or leading HAZOP, Risk Analysis, Incident investigations
  • Technical proposal experience
